Icemint 40
Icemint…A fast explorer. Designed by David Raison and François Lucas, this blue water sailing monohull is thought out for higher latitude sailing. Lifting keel, twin rudders, protected cockpit. Sail far, fast and safe. Currently under construction.

Coast 50 second hull
2nd Hull flipped over… Rotation of the 2nd hull done, just as planned. Both hulls are on their trolleys so they can easily be positioned before being connected. Still a lot of internal welding to do while the platform is being built. Work in progress! http://www.mintyachts.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Boatflip2.mp4

Get an idea of the dimensons
With thanks to Lee Trevarthen we present a short video, which gives you a small impression of how huge are the hulls of the 50feet catamaran.

Keels will provide good upwind characteristics
Keel boxes being fitted on the Coast 50. These boxes will house the swing keels on each side, allowing better upwind sailing. The keels will be hydraulically manoeuvred and fully fit into the hulls when beaching the cat. Click to enlarge images

Positioning the frames of the Coast50
Once assembled, the frames are being set up on the jig. Correct positioning is crucial for the correct progress of the construction. Each frame has to be placed with millimetric precision. Click to enlarge images

Frame assembly, work in progress
Example of frames after assembly and welding. Notice the reinforcements around all the internal perimeter. Pictured are frames nº 2 and frame number 4 .

Coast50 first delivery of material
First batch of cnc cut aluminum arrives in the yard. These are mainly 10mm parts for the frames for both port and starboard hulls. After sorting out the parts according to their reference number in the cutting files, the frames will be assembled and reinforced with T or L plates in order to comply with EC […]

Preparing the workspace for 50ft hulls
We´ve built the two mounting jigs for the Coast 50 hulls. This allows us to work on the two 50 foot hulls simultaneously. They occupy quite a bit of space but there´s still room to continue working on the Gto39. First delivery of aluminium is about to arrive after being plasma cut. First step will […]
